Laying the groundwork for an equitable clean energy future

A cleaner energy future is coming. We're working to ensure it's also an equitable one.

Self-Help has teamed up with two other experienced nonprofit organizations to create Climate United, a collaboration focused on expanding the benefits of the clean energy transition—like cleaner air and lower energy bills—to all.

We’re thrilled that Climate United has received a $6.97 billion award from the Environmental Protection Agency through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. With these funds, Climate United will finance the adoption of cleaner products and practices in ways that provide direct benefits to people’s lives.

What is Self-Help's Role?

People across the country are ready to drive less-polluting cars, live in energy efficient housing and reduce their carbon footprint overall.

As part of Climate United, we hope to make it easy for lenders to provide responsible financing that helps consumers make those clean-energy choices.

We're excited about activating a national network of lenders to offer affordable and accessible clean-energy lending, especially to communities that have been disproportionately harmed by climate change and pollution.

Helping our members save energy and money

Reducing toxic air and carbon pollution can change people’s lives for the better—and we’re already supporting that change for our members with our energy efficiency and clean-energy loans

An unprecedented opportunity

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022 and the investments it established, including the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tackle climate change while building a stronger economy for all.

Economic change has a habit of increasing disparity; the IRA and the funds it created give us the opportunity to turn this dynamic on its head and ensure our transition to a clean energy economy builds equity and opportunity for all.

With over 120 years of combined experience, Climate United has the knowledge, capacity, and resources to meet this moment. With a record of prioritizing collaboration, equity, and accessibility, Self-Help and our Climate United partners know how to move resources where they need to go.

We won’t let this chance pass us by.

Stay tuned

This is only the beginning of a major collaborative effort that has the potential to transform markets and bring meaningful benefits to our communities. Together, we're ready to create a cleaner, healthier, more sustainable future for all. Let’s go.
