[Wilmington, North Carolina] — This month, Self-Help Credit Union (self-help.org) in Wilmington, North Carolina located at 307 S. College Road warmly welcomed more than 2,000 members of the former local branch of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union (PACU) into its family of credit unions. PACU members in Wilmington voted to join Self-Help in April.
“Self-Help Credit Union is a Durham-based credit union that was founded to help North Carolinians access fair financial services and build wealth,” states Melody McBroom, Self-Help North Carolina State Retail President. “Our mission is helping families build wealth and financial independence, a goal we pursue by focusing on putting members first in all they do and by working to build strong communities in the areas we serve. These are the same values that PACU has embodied for more than 70 years.”
“We believe that in partnering with such a strong and like-minded credit union, our Wilmington members will become stronger and able to thrive financially in our rapidly changing world,” McBroom added.
Bringing former Wilmington PACU members into the Self-Help family will bring a number of benefits, including our commitment to excellent service. Self-Help will provide a full suite of financial products and services to the members, including low-down payment mortgages and small business loans. We also offer a robust financial coaching program for members.
Self-Help’s Wilmington branch is open 9 a.m.—5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The branch offers drive-up service, round-the-clock ATM access and walk-in teller and loan officer services.
