On Monday, March 15, Jax Metro, a Division of Self-Help Credit Union, opened our newest branch in Jacksonville, Florida. Even while taking COVID precautions, we had a fantastic opening with great community support! Photos and a video tour follow below.
This newly constructed branch, located in Jacksonville's River City Marketplace, is built on a long legacy. Before joining Self-Help in 2017, Jax Metro had served Jacksonville for more than 75 years, beginning as a credit union for local utility and port workers. With this new location, we continue a commitment to offer affordable and accessible financial products in the Jacksonville area.
In an interview broadcast on Jacksonville radio station WJCT, Self-Help's business development leader, Tom Larson, describes how we will serve the community:
Here are a few snapshots from the opening day:
Self-Help staff from left to right: Tom Larson (Business Development), Megan Nissley (Area Manager), Kim Hoke (Assistant Branch Manager), and Sheyla Morales (Member Service Representative).
Roger and Deborah Romedy were the first members to arrive on opening day. Roger is a retired utility worker and long-time member of Jax Metro Credit Union, now a division of Self-Help CU.
Sheree Eddie, long-time CEO of Jax Metro Credit Union, was on hand for the opening.
The new branch has an open feel, with a spacious 2,353 square feet.
The branch includes a drive-thru; a drive-up, 24/7 ATM; and video teller. It also features two charging stations for electric vehicles.
Most important, the branch comes with friendly, knowledgeable staff who are eager to help our members build credit, save and invest.
But wait, there's more! This two-minute tour, led by Self-Help's Kim Hoke and Megan Nissley, provides great views of the branch, inside and out:
