> Scholarship information and application

Again this year, all Self-Help Credit Union branch offices are awarding $500 scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education in a vocational school or college.  The main criterion is a demonstrated commitment to service in the community. We also ask applicants to submit a short essay on the value of credit unions in the community.

Scholarship applicants do not need to be a Self-Help member, and Self-Help employees and their family members are not eligible to apply. Find out more and get an online application by clicking on the link above.

The Self-Help Credit Union has allowed my family many services throughout the years. My family was part of Carolina Mills Credit Union for over 30 years. They have been able to keep their services because Self-Help Credit Union recognized the importance of merging with a community-focused credit union.”  –   Je’Tevius Farley-Wright, one of 18 students awarded a Self-Help scholarship in 2016. Je’Tevius attends UNC-Pembroke, where he is majoring in Information Technology. Among his volunteer work is service in a local soup kitchen.
