Internship Program: 
Self-Help/CRL offers a 10 week summer internship program that is designed to give students valuable experience in a professional setting while broadening their knowledge of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI’s). Along with each specific intern project, the intern will participate in a series of brownbag lunches to learn more about Self-Help and the Community Development industry as a whole. Interns will also be given the opportunity to network with one another and other Self-Helpers through a variety of planned events.

Internship Description: 

Internship will be centered on increasing the knowledge of the Self-Help Credit Union's loan requirements in our community. This project will focus on current and future target mission-based membership and their needs Second they will develop and carry out a series of programs that will educate the community on Budgeting, Credit Scores and Debt to Income Ratios. The intern will construct lesson plans along with handout and Power Points for these programs that can be used for classes in the future. Third they will assemble a list of contacts in the community that will agree to participate in these programs. The intern will expect to carry out at least 2 of these events.

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Self-Help mission and mission based clientele
  • Knowledge of Wilson County and surrounding communities.
  • Very task -oriented Self starter
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements: 
Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to occasionally lift and exert force of up to 10 pounds.
