Internship Program: Self-Help/CRL offers a 10 week summer internship program that is designed to give students valuable experience in a professional setting while broadening their knowledge of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI’s). Along with each specific intern project, the intern will participate in a series of brownbag lunches to learn more about Self-Help and the Community Development industry as a whole. Interns will also be given the opportunity to network with one another and other Self-Helpers through a variety of planned events. Internship Description: In conjunction with the Regional Director, Durham Area Retail Manager and DPI representative conduct research to identify current mission depositors and potential new depositors in each or our three markets within the Triangle. Develop a call strategy and a tracking mechanism for new mission deposits. In conjunction with the Regional Director, Durham Area Retail Manager and DPI representative think through new and innovative low cost marketing ideas and strategies to attract mission depositors and document results and internal marketing outreach plan. In order to understand the basic foundation of the financial services industry the Summer Intern will learn and become functional/ operational in all areas Members Services activities including but not limited to running a teller window, providing excellent customer service becoming knowledgeable about our retail products and services. Help identify and standardize branch reporting to ensure consistent methods in evaluating the performance of each branch. Assist with new branch Voter Registration pilot. Review policies, procedures and practices for the Central and Eastern Branch Region for consistency. Essential Responsibilities: Same as above. Minimum Qualifications: Same as above Desired Qualifications: Business major with Marketing, Economics or Finance as a concentration. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and research techniques. Prior cash handling and customer service experience a plus. Self- Starter, has initiative, friendly and outgoing. Physical Requirements: Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to occasionally lift and exert force of up to 10 pounds.
