1912 Multi Media Communications Manager - Durham, NC The Organization:Position Description: Self-Help is looking for a Multi Media Communications Manager to join our team in Durham, NC. The Multi Media Communications Manager provides strategic design and production support to Self-Help leadership and teams. Working with other Communications & Marketing Team staff, this position defines the organization’s multimedia requirements and designs and produces innovative, high-quality video, web, and print products. This position will focus on planning, designing and producing print materials, and content for web, video and other multimedia channels, to support Self-Help’s external and internal communications and marketing efforts. Examples of the content produced includes Self-Help’s online annual report, SHCU in-branch digital video displays and marketing displays, email templates and blog content, internal communications materials, and items for use on Self-Help’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Essential Responsibilities: Design and produce print marketing and branding materials, including marketing brochures, SHCU branch displays and local market ads, annual meeting materials, etc. Design and produce web-based layouts, landing pages, informational graphics, forms, email templates, and other online content, including Self-Help’s online annual report. This would include rapid-response graphics for use in SH social media channels. Responsible for coordinating, creating, shooting and editing to completion, varying categories of online video content to create the most compelling video content possible. This will include: Coordinating with Self-Help leadership and teams to produce video content that directly relates to topics relevant to our brand. Collaborating with Communications & Marketing Team members and other Self-Help staff to outline video concepts, provide creative input, develop video storyboards, and plan shoot requirements accordingly. Producing, lighting, shooting and editing video content which includes: creating content based on programming needs; researching elements, writing, lighting, shooting, editing, and preparing video segments; selecting graphics and pre-production elements; and executing final videos. Collaborating, as needed, with third party production sources (such as videographers, lighting companies, video equipment companies, locations for studio rental, field shoots etc.). Using Adobe Creative Cloud to produce high-quality content -- including graphic design, audio mixing, music, and special effects such as stop motion video and motion graphics -- that's technically executed, represents the Self-Help brand and is suitable for distribution. Managing all phases of the video production process. Leading efforts to promote video content, including developing graphic elements and effective promotions for videos for distribution via Self-Help.org and Self-Help social media platforms. Managing and promoting Self-Help’s YouTube channel. Help with photography at Self-Help events and of members/borrowers. Work with other Communications Team members to maintain an organized media storage and retrieval system. Update Self-Help brand guidelines as appropriate. Work on other projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 4-year degree in design field or equivalent work experience with a concentration in graphic, web, mobile, video and motion design. 3 to 5 years design/work experience with strong art direction/design portfolio knowledge. Technical Skills Knowledge of current production methods for web, online, email, video, audio and print Proficient use of current video camera and production equipment technologies including shooting, lighting, audio recording, etc. Demonstrated, expert skills inAdobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects and Acrobat. Proficiency with one or more website content management systems. Intermediate HTML and CSS expertise. Design knowledge for various social media channels – Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. Design, motion graphics and online video production experience. Full knowledge of digital production processes. Able to handle multiple edits, package video, and deliver content to the highest standards.Function and demonstrate a passion for developing ongoing storytelling with an excellent sense of pacing and editing to music. Demonstrated creative use of plug-ins and adding visual effects / graphics to elevate production value for dramatic entertainment and overall quality. Significant understanding of video resolutions, bitrates, codecs and all exporting measures Design Skills: Sophisticated design aesthetic, technical skill, and knowledge of current design trends Technically adept, multitasking storyteller. Other Required Skills Self-motivated and independent, creative thinker requiring minimal direction. Project management skills– ability to handle multiple assignments, across various media concurrently. Good attention to detail and strong follow-thru. Ability to perform well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Able to jump-start projects without much direction, as well as ability to multi-task and move fast on projects. Desired Qualifications: Experience working with YouTube and best practices preferred. Strong understanding of personal finance issues preferred. Knowledge of SEO in relation to online content preferred. Physical Requirements: Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
