What: Self-Help strives to create and protect economic opportunity for all, with work that benefits communities of all kinds, especially those who may be underserved by conventional lenders. We’re proud to rededicate our newest branch at 601 S. Mangum Street in downtown Durham.

This branch will bring a boost to greater Durham and the larger community. The grand opening culminates an extensive renovation project, with an investment of over $300,000.

Self-Help Credit Union (NC, FL) 

Self-Help CU was founded in 1984, with $77 in proceeds from a bake sale. It initially focused on helping small businesses and home buyers in under-served communities, and expanded into retail financial services and consumer lending. Since 2004, Self-Help CU has merged with eleven community-focused credit unions; it now serves some 70,000 members through 26 branches and 5 offices in NC and FL.
